Hey! Today, I want to talk to you about something that’s really close to my heart: self-care. Ah, self-care – that buzzword that’s been bouncing around social media like a ping-pong ball at a championship match.  Ever since some turbulent times in my life I’ve realized that I’m really bad at being kind to myself – always fighting that little critic inside of me, always neglecting my diet, my exercise routine and stressing over the slightest of issues.  Self-care is something that we often overlook in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, but it’s so important, trust me. I’ve learned the hard way that if you don’t take care of yourself, everything else in life becomes a lot harder. It’s like trying to drive a car without ever stopping for gas or maintenance – eventually, you’re going to break down. And the other thing we often do is to self-sabotage oneself.

What helped me to overcome my self-sabotaging and lack of self-love experience (that comes with self-care) was a fantastic book by Brianna West The mountain is you. I highly recommend this read for everyone struggling with taking care of their own needs and themselves.  I used to think that putting others first was the noble thing to do, but I’ve come to realize that it’s impossible to pour from an empty cup. Taking care of myself isn’t selfish; it’s necessary. Whether it’s taking a walk in nature, indulging in a bubble bath, or simply spending time doing something I love, I’ve learned that self-care looks different for everyone. It’s about finding what fills your cup and making time for it, no matter how busy life gets. I make sure that my day begins with the chirping of birds and the first rays of sunlight peeking through my curtains. I take a deep breath and stretch, greeting the day with gratitude. A warm cup of herbal tea accompanies my morning journaling session, where I jot down my thoughts and set intentions for the day. Then I also make sure that my day is filled with laughter, positivity, efficient work, exercises and healthy nutritious diet.

Self-care is deeply personal and unique to each individual. It’s about finding what works for you and allowing yourself the grace to evolve and change. For me, it’s about simplicity, mindfulness, and laughter. It’s about being present in the moment and cherishing the small joys of life. So, let’s make a pact together shall we? – to prioritize our own well-being, to listen to our bodies and minds when they need a break, and to remember that self-care isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity. Because when we take care of ourselves, we’re better equipped to take care of others and tackle whatever challenges life throws our way. So here’s to making self-care a non-negotiable part of our lives – because we’re worth it. Hope you’ll do some reading and show kindness to yourself today! Take care & speak soon!
