Mothers, Moms, Mommies… it’s a special and probably the most important role for most of the women who choose to become mothers. Yet on this magazine we celebrate both – women who made that decision to have kids but we also support and understand those who choose or are forced to choose different paths and decide to live a childfree life. Both are equally important and useful to their communities.

Today however we’d like to give you a few tips and hints on how to celebrate someone who is probably the closest person to you on this planet – your mom. There are actually plenty of fun activities that you can plan together with your mom just to make this day extra special for her. Here are just some examples I’ve quickly put together for you. If you and your mom we both enjoy cooking, for her special day you can spend a bit of time together in the kitchen cooking her favorite dish! If you don’t want to do that – why not take your mom out for a picnic? Outdoor activities are always fun and healthy. Bring a blanket, some games, and enjoy quality time together surrounded by nature. Talking about outdoors if your mom is an adventure seeker why not go on an adventure together? Thinking here about activities such as hiking, biking, or visiting a nearby botanical garden or nature reserve. Enjoy the fresh air and beautiful surroundings while spending quality time with your mom. For moms who love pampering, why don’t you and your siblings treat your mom to a pampering session at a spa – she will absolutely enjoy every minute of it as you have to admit that usually she’s the one thinking of us and too busy to take care of herself. You can buy for her a session of a relaxing massage, get her nails done, or if you cannot afford a professional spa – create a DIY spa day with face masks and luxurious bath products. Trust me – she’s going to love the time together more than the treatments themselves!  If your mom is a gardener, offer her a Garden Day! Spend the day gardening together. Plant flowers, herbs, or vegetables in the backyard or on a balcony. It’s a rewarding activity that you can continue to enjoy together as the plants grow. There are gazillions of ways to spend a fun day with your mom – just browse the Internet and tailor a day especially for her. It doesn’t have to be costly to be thoughtful.

But we believe that the most important thing to remember is  to spend quality time together, creating memories that she’ll cherish for years to come. Your mom is the most precious person of your life and make sure this day is special for her but please also remember to celebrate her with smaller gestures on an everyday basis.  Call your mom right now and tell her how much you love and appreciate her – she would be overjoyed to hear her baby’s voice and hear nice compliments – you don’t need Mother’s Day to make your mom smile!
